Viscom Dusseldorf

Speakers’ Corner, Textile or LED Summit, Digital Signage News and Lunch & Learn: Some three months before the start of viscom, plans for the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication, Technology and Design are becoming more concrete everyday. The number of registered exhibitors is growing as well. More than 80 percent of the planned space is already booked. Approximately 350 exhibitors are expected at viscom which will take place from 13 to 15 October in Düsseldorf.
As in previous years, trade fair organiser Reed Exhibitions does not only count on a comprehensive range of products and services to be presented by the companies from the different segments of the industry, but also on the appropriate supporting programme and on special exhibitions which in this form must be unique. “Visitors may expect not merely new content, there are also plans for new ways of presentation”, reveals viscom Director Petra Lassahn. “As an open forum or in combination with their lunch break – our comprehensive offer which comes in many different forms enables visitors to select the presentations they want to attend according to their special interest and time schedule.“

Supporting programme: Meeting place for exhibitors, visitors and other experts

A novelty at viscom düsseldorf 2011 is Lunch & Learn which takes place every day between 12.00 noon and 1.00 p.m. and combines lunch break and education. Here exhibitors can sit down at the lunch table with up to ten people and present their topics, listen to the opinions of their customers and discuss ideas for new products. Visitors have the opportunity to ask questions in this small circle, supply ideas and express their own wishes.

Another novelty is the LED Summit which offers the possibility to learn the basics of light and lighting. The focus is on LED projects and their analysis both from a lighting technology and a business perspective. Practical examples of energy-efficient lighting in shops and hotels will be presented, and light pollution in public areas discussed.

For the first time, the Textile Summit will also be held at viscom. The topics here are trends and innovations in textile printing, modern materials, processing possibilities and printing technologies.
The lectures on Media Production will be a source of valuable information and knowledge for day-to-day work. Here topics like process control, quality management, margin optimisation, colour management, image processing, printing PDF and multi-media data processing for a variety of channels will be dealt with.

Participants of the Customised Printing Workshop will have a full day on the topic of customised design. Speakers from the industry will give lectures on customising and finishing technologies, production processes and machine technology and present customised furnishing solutions and designs for shops and exhibitions. The exhibitors will also take part presenting up-to-date practical examples.

Varied range of lectures on Digital Signage

For the first time this year, the Digital Signage World will feature the Speakers’ Corner. This open forum is where exhibitors will give lectures on innovations and trends in digital signage, but it is also a pleasant place to just take a short break. In Best of the Day, specialist media from the industry offer 15 minutes of Digital Signage News every day. There are also plans for a daily get-together at the Digital Signage Meet & Greet. A more in-depth treatment of an application area of digital signage is offered at the Hospitality and the Retail Summit. The former targets furnishers and project planners for the hotel and restaurant sector, the latter deals with the requirements and challenges in shop fitting, shop design and visual merchandising. The Digital Signage Content Professional Workshop is devoted to the challenge of storytelling in moving images and takes up questions of visual language. This year, there will also be a Starter Workshop for all those who are newcomers to the work with digital signage.
