In fact everything was bright and sharp for the grand opening of the new Your Embroidery Services Ltd. (YES Ltd.) headquarters.
The company has been in business for over 20 years now and, in that time, has grown from the study of Managing Director Roy Burton’s house to a fantastic purpose designed HQ housing admin, sales, support and mechanical and electronic workshops.
Suppliers, customers and press enjoyed a very well organised day with the opening itself being conducted by Colonel Tim S. Richmond, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire.
A businessman himself, Colonel Richmond was keen to support local industry, and in cutting the ribbon and declaring Sovereign House open he launched YES Ltd. on its next phase. He made mention in his speech that businesses such as YES Ltd. are very important to the local economy and have helped lift the employment prospects in the area. He mentioned the growth of the company and wished for continued success.
The day was special for everyone at YES Ltd. but for one employee it was extra special. Steve Gilbert was the first person to be employed there over 20 years ago and is still with the company today. In recognition of this the directors made a special presentation and thanked him for his continued loyalty and commitment. There was also a presentation to the company by SWF Embroidery machines who were represented by Mr. Yungrok Park. The gift of a vase demonstrating traditional Korean art was received on the company’s behalf by Roy Burton and now has pride of place in the boardroom. Amongst the guests was Trevor Darnborough of Quality Clothing Co. Ltd. who bought the very first embroidery machine from YES Ltd. (a used Barudan model). Following this he was also the first customer to purchase a SWF machine and so has seen the company steadily grow.
During the morning visitors were treated to a tour of the building which included areas normally out of bounds to the public. The electronics R&D department for instance is normally secreted away from prying eyes as it is heavily involved in the development of the next generation of firmware. What this demonstrated is the commitment to self-sufficiency that is evident in all areas of the business.
Most companies in the industry boast about customer service but very few have a dedicated customer support office. This triple glazed quiet area has been designed to allow customer support personnel to concentrate on helping and supporting clients without distraction and interruption.
Visitors were also shown how new machine builds are carried out as well as the rigorous quality control used where pre-built and used machines are concerned.
Following lunch staff from each department were available to demonstrate a varied range of machines covering embroidery, direct to garment printing, UV printing and label printing and finishing. This was an ideal opportunity for visitors to see the wide and varied range of machinery offered by this Nottinghamshire based company offering customers ideal opportunities to add extra income streams to their business.
The day was an unmitigated success and not only demonstrated the strength of this company but also how healthy the industry as a whole is. YES Ltd. may have grown to be the major supplier to a number of industries but it was obvious that it still operates on family values. The YES Ltd family includes not just the directors but its staff, suppliers and customers and, like most families, they do a very good job of looking after each other.
