In the events industry, deadlines are paramount. Time is tight, projects are demanding, and there are always last minute changes. For Event Engineering, a full-service events company known for its meticulous attention to detail and creative builds, the difference between success and stress has been aided by two Sinocolor printers supplied and supported by China Print Supplies (CPS).

“We’re often working to incredibly short timeframes,” says Harvey Scarborough-Wilkins, who heads up Event Engineering’s print operations. “There are times when an event is already being built, and we’ll get a last-minute change that needs printing within a couple of hours before it goes on a courier. Before, we just couldn’t do that.”

Event Engineering powers events with China Print Supplies

Based in Loughborough, Event Engineering handles everything from festival activations and exhibitions to conferences and product launches. Their clients, primarily marketing agencies, rely on them to deliver visually stunning, perfectly finished event spaces that feel effortless. Behind the scenes, though, it’s anything but easy.

Until recently, the company relied heavily on outsourcing much of its print work. “We started out with an Epson S80600L, which covered our vinyl print needs,” Harvey explains. “But we’d have to order in all fabric and DTM prints. It meant extra cost, extra coordination, and crucially, extra time.”

Bringing print production in-house became the obvious next step. Event Engineering turned to CPS for two key machines: the Sinocolor UR3200S roll-to-roll printer and the Sinocolor FB-2513 flatbed.

Introducing China Print Supplies

China Print Supplies (CPS) has built a strong reputation across the UK print and sign trade for offering reliable, affordable wide-format printing equipment backed by local service and support. The company supplies a growing range of Sinocolor printers, helping print, display, and event specialists bring more production in-house and stay competitive on both quality and turnaround.

For Event Engineering, that combination of capability, cost-efficiency and support proved the perfect fit.

Sinocolor Printers deliver speed and value every time

“The main reason we went with Sinocolor was the balance between price and speed,” says Harvey. “At this price point, these machines are almost twice as fast as other printers we looked at, and the print quality still holds up really well at those higher speeds.”

The installation was smooth and efficient. “It took about a day and a half per machine, and training was done in half a day each. Scott from CPS walked us through setup, maintenance, and the RIP software, and because the machines work very similarly, it was quick to learn. If we’ve ever had questions since, Scott’s been great. He always replies quickly, and if something needs hands-on help, he’s there.”

Prints that turn heads

Event Engineering’s first big jobs on the new printers were for HSBC’s Airport Lounge, which took place at Goodwood Revival earlier this year.

The team produced five rear-printed 8mm clear acrylic sheets, lit from behind to create the illusion of looking out over an airport runway. The surrounding backdrop, made up of four sections of black fabric print-wrapped around wooden flats, transformed the stage into an island holiday scene.

In another display, a world map was printed onto steel Dibond, creating an interactive feature where destination magnets could be moved around. It also had a black acrylic sign with white text printed to the front, which added a sleek finishing touch.

“These are the kind of prints that show what the new machines can really do,” says Harvey. “They’re high-impact, perfectly colour-matched, and done in-house, which means we can control the timing and quality right down to the wire.”

Sinocolor Printers deliver speed, consistency & control

Since installing the Sinocolor printers, Event Engineering has expanded its internal print capacity and added two completely new print capabilities: fabric and DTM printing.

Their turnaround time has improved dramatically. What used to take a minimum of three days can now be done in a matter of hours. This ability to respond quickly to changing client needs has transformed how the business operates and strengthened its reliability under pressure.

Consistency has also become a major advantage. Colour matching is crucial for Event Engineering, especially when a print needs to match painted elements or different substrates. Harvey explains that the printers are reliable and easy to adjust once you get to know them, saving huge amounts of time on rework.

Growing the print side of the business

Looking ahead, Event Engineering plans to keep building its print department. With the Sinocolor printers being so easy to use, training new team members will be much simpler as the department expands. Harvey also plans to increase the types of finishes the company can offer in-house, such as silicon-edged fabric prints. The goal is to keep increasing what can be delivered internally, faster and to the same high standard clients have come to expect

The partnership with China Print Supplies has transformed Event Engineering’s print operations. The company has significantly expanded its in-house print capability, achieved much faster turnaround times, and reduced overall printing costs.

Just as importantly, the new equipment has given the team greater control and confidence to meet last-minute challenges without compromise.

“Events move fast,” says Harvey. “These printers have made it possible for us to move just as fast and still deliver at the quality our clients expect.”
