Labmak wins Label Printer of Year with work produced on Durst Tau

A Mary Rose Gin Label, which was produced on the Durst Tau 330 UV inkjet production printer, was cited for the “impressive entry”.

Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital production technologies, has helped The Label Makers in the UK ‘pull off’ one of the most challenging categories in the PrintWeek awards.

A runner up previously for three consecutive years, The Label Makers – known as Labmak – triumphed in the Label Printer of the Year awards in a ceremony in London in front of hundreds of guests.

A Mary Rose Gin Label, which was produced on the Durst Tau 330 UV inkjet production printer, was cited for the “impressive entry”. The judges said, “a beautiful label, simply stunning – so many processes involved, but they pulled it off.”

David Webster, Managing Director of David Webster, Managing Director of Labmak, said: “We’re extremely proud. It’s been a great team effort. The judges particularly chose as exceptional the gin label printed on the Durst Tau. Great to have a label win on my favourite technology!”

The Mary Rose Gin Label was passed twice through the machine for the bottom layer then laminated a second layer of material and then passed again through for the top layer. The end product is a back label that can be seen through the bottle and has information on the back.

Afterwards, The Label Makers had its own celebration lunch at its factory in Bradford, Yorkshire, involving all the staff together with Mr Webster and his parents, John and Judy Webster.

Helmuth Munter, Segment Manager, Durst Label & Package Printing, said: “Congratulations to David and the team at Labmak – we’re delighted our game-changing technology has helped them win such a prestigious UK award. The Durst Tau 330 boasts unmatched printing speed and printing quality and is a perfect solution for label converters looking for an industrial scale digital press solution.”
