Roland DG confirms it will champion the next generation of signage professionals by sponsoring the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ at BSGA British Sign Awards 2016.
As the UK market’s leading manufacturer of wide format digital printers for durable graphics, Roland DG is committed to supporting young and emerging talent from the sign industry. The new ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award will reward young sign makers who are making an outstanding contribution to a sign business.
Nominations are now open and employers or supervisors can submit an entry for potential candidates through the BSGA British Sign Awards website before the submission deadline on Friday 5th August 2016. Entrants must be aged 25 or under on or before 31st March 2016 and should be employed in a UK sign business.
Speaking about the BSGA British Sign Awards 2015, Brett Newman, Managing Director for Roland DG (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the BSGA British Sign Awards for a second consecutive year and work alongside the British Signs and Graphics Association to recognise and celebrate the important contribution young people make to the sign industry.
“Young people aren’t only the future of the sign industry, they bring fresh ideas and perspectives that will help drive our industry forward and explore new markets. This is a cause which is close to my heart, and that of the company – Roland DG is committed to introducing the apprentices we employ to the creativity of the Sign & Graphics industry.”
Formally known as the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award, this year the award criteria have been broadened to make it accessible to more young sign makers.
David Catanach, Director of the BSGA said: “The aim of the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award is to find a young sign maker who is already making an outstanding contribution to a sign business in terms of commitment, ability, contribution to the business and future potential.
“However, formal training and qualifications are vital to young people and all candidates should have undertaken or be looking to undertake a formal training programme such as a Sign making Apprenticeship or equivalent.”
This sponsorship further underpins Roland DG’s commitment to inspire loyal, long-lasting relationships and educational support, with services such as the Roland DG Academy: An industry recognised training facility available to businesses and individuals working within the heart of the creative industry.
The Academy presents delegates with an ideal learning environment equipped with state-of-the-art training technologies and the latest Roland DG technology to develop their skills and expertise across the print industry. And the lucky winner of the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ Award will not only take home this prestigious accolade, but will also be offered a space on a Roland DG Academy course of their choice.
The winner of the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award will be announced at the BSGA Awards Presentation gala event where Roland DG will also participate in the integrated ‘Sponsor Showcase’ displaying their market-leading wide-format digital print and cut technology.
