Back by popular demand, Summer School from Make it in Design returns for a second year to bring inspiration, fun and creativity to designers.   Summer School is a four-week on-line design event starting 6th July 2015.  With three tracks available: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced; it is an ideal platform to experience working to a brief, connect with other designers around the world, grow a body of commercial work and win amazing prizes.

Priced at just £20 per track, participants in this years’ Summer School are promised WGSN 2016 trend inspired creative briefs, fun design challenges, high-value prizes and the chance to get their work printed onto an item, published in the Surface Pattern Design Lookbook Volume 2 and featured in the world’s first on-line magazine dedicated to surface pattern design ‘MOYO’.

Make it in Design have teamed up with The Magic Touch for this years’ Summer School and are offering nine people the chance to see their designs brought to life through the magic of print. At the end of Summer School (31 July), The Magic Touch will select their three favourite designs from each track and will print them onto a bag, mug or tea towel. For any designer, seeing their work printed onto an item for the first time is a magical experience.

For a designer, it’s so important to gain exposure and show people what you’re all about, so having the chance to feature on the Make it in Design website, social networks, MOYO magazine and the Surface Pattern Design Lookbook Volume 2 is a fantastic opportunity. Designs created during Summer School are often showcased on other leading industry websites too.

The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design is the definitive guide to becoming a surface pattern professional and consists of four acclaimed on-line courses. Thriving surface pattern designer and illustrator Rachael Taylor guides designers along this exciting path and offers a rich combination of design inspiration, creative exercises, resources and skills needed to break into this exciting industry.

Participants on the beginners track can win a place on Module 1 ‘Designing your way’ worth £189, those on the intermediate track can win a place on Module 2 ‘Creating your professional identity’ worth £259 and anyone on the advanced track can win a place on Module 3 ‘Monetising your designs’ worth £359.
