Mutoh to provide vehicle wrap demos at SEMA

Get wrapped up in Mutoh's car wrap installation demonstrations at the Mutoh America booth #11839, during the SEMA 2010 tradeshow. The SEMA tradeshow will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 2-5. Demonstrations will take place daily.

Viewers will be able to learn how to minimise mistakes and increase knowledge of properly applying car wraps to any vehicle. Avery Dennison's MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS, a new, highly conformable digitally printable cast vinyl film ideal for vehicle graphics, will be used to wrap the Chrysler 300. This media will be printed on "The Wrapper's Choice" ValueJet 1614- 64" printer.

The Avery Supercast vinyl will also be running their vinyl media through Mutoh's top printer the ValueJet 1304- 54" printer using SAi's RIP software.

Mutoh partner, Neschen Americas, will be demonstrating their SEAL 62 Base, a high quality, heat assist laminator designed to apply a protective laminate to vehicle graphics. Lamination provides additional longevity and finish to make your vehicle graphics vibrant.

Mutoh will also demonstrate how to print window tint and paint protection to any car, using their multipurpose Kona Cutting Plotters. Mutoh prides their Kona cutters to have the finest cutting quality with excellent tracking which can be used at home or the office.

 

Vast audience find answers with INX Digital at SGIA

With a booth full of digital products, INX Digital International Co. officials expected an enthusiastic response from wide format printers who historically support the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association's (SGIA) Expo.  What was surprising was the number of traditional and grand format printers that visited the booth during the October 13-15 show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"It was a very good show in terms of printers who were looking to purchase and those who had the power to purchase," said Ken Kisner, President of INX Digital International.  "SGIA this year seemed much different than in the past.  Besides the wide format print shop owners and operators who always have supported us, we had a good number of traditional and industrial printers in our booth.  That was a pleasant surprise, especially since several people who had just attended Graph Expo specifically visited us to see our CP100 cylindrical printer again."

The CP100 UV digital cylindrical printer headlines the company's EVOLVE Advanced Digital Solutions line.  INX Digital technicians ran UV LED inks on the CP100 in the booth and answered plenty of questions about the printer, which is designed for short-run cylindrical packaging. The UV LED inks not only contribute to energy savings, but represent the company's commitment to developing more sustainable products that proved very popular with the SGIA crowd.

The new EDX line of eco solvent inks and Eco Bulk ink delivery system were among the many highlights of the show.  EDX marks the first time INX Digital's Triangle brand has offered a colour and chemically compatible ECO product for the alternative market.  A fast drying ink with low odour and dual compatibility, users can perform cartridge-by-cartridge changeover without wasting ink.  Booth visitors voiced their approval that these inks were launched specifically for Roland series printers with Epson DX4 print head technology.  EDX inks also provide a significant cost savings compared to OEM eco inks.

An important development of INX Digital's Green recycling program, Eco Bulk is a new type of ink delivery system for wide format inks that's easy to use. Show attendees liked the unique cardboard box design, which consists of 100 percent recycled material and replaces five, 440 ml cartridges.  Eco Bulk also earned points for its sustainable approach.  The ink is housed within a foil bag and, once emptied, is disposed of.  The foil bag can contain up to two litres of ink, double the current industry standard of one litre packaging and with less waste, but 440 ml cartridges will be available for customers using less ink.

"We made it a point this year to consult traditional printers currently using gravure, offset and litho to evolve components of their business to digital. This effort continues to show new growth and allow these well established companies to differentiate and increase profitability," Kisner said.  "INX Digital has always been known as an innovative company and we have now launched a new, aggressive approach to bring profits to our customers.  Many print manufacturers, as well as owners of print shops who visited INX Digital at SGIA, are excited to use our new jettable fluid technologies to create new revenue streams for their shops or to make current revenue streams more efficient.  It is obvious to us this year's show will translate to sales quickly."

Tradeshow "Trifecta" brings EFI strong sales and hundreds of leads

EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, has concluded a successful "trifecta" of industry trade shows - SGIA, GRAPH EXPO and Labelexpo Americas - with record visitor attendance, strong sales on the show floor and hundreds of qualified leads.

The three events enabled EFI to showcase its complete portfolio of end-to-end solutions that continue to lead the industry's progression from analog to digital technology.

"EFI had a large presence at each of these key industry conferences, and we're thrilled that our booths were overflowing with prospects and current customers in search of ways to bring growth to their businesses," said Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president of worldwide sales, EFI. "Now more than ever, companies are looking at how multiple EFI products can make a huge impact on their success. Many visitors at these events made a purchase decision on the spot, and many, many more will be engaging with our sales team over the next several weeks to learn how EFI can boost their productivity and profits."

EFI recently participated in SGIA with a large booth at the entrance to the hall. The company displayed its VUTEk GS3200, VUTEk GS5000r, Rastek T1000, Rastek T652, Jetrion 4830 and integrated workflow offerings including EFI Pace, EFI Digital StoreFront, EFI Web Control Center, Fiery XF and XFlow. In the Hilord booth, EFI also demonstrated a new dye-sublimation technology based on the QS platform.

With SGIA registrations at a record high, visitor traffic to EFI's booth was constant, and customers came to buy - resulting in a record number of sales in the booth.

"I was looking for an additional superwide printer to keep up with the high quality image demands of the New York theater industry," said Wayne Sapper, president of King Displays. "SGIA was the perfect venue to see what the industry has to offer and see live demos of each printer. I purchased the EFI VUTEk GS3200 because of its flatbed and roll-to-roll versatility, high image quality and three-layer white ink printing capability."

EFI recently announced that more than 100 VUTEk GS series printers have been sold, and that Q3 UV ink volume was up 43 percent year-over-year. The ability of GS customers to successfully win new, demanding print jobs is a key driver of this ink volume growth.

GRAPH EXPO

EFI had a front and centre position at this year's GRAPH EXPO conference. The expansive booth highlighted EFI's diverse portfolio and strong integration between solutions by displaying its products around vertical markets that match customers' business needs, divided into eight segments: On Demand/Print for Pay, Small Commercial/CRD, Commercial/Specialty Printers, Large Commercial/Publishing, Digital Sign and Screen, Packaging and Labels, Creative Agencies/Colour Professionals and Office Solutions. EFI ran 33 Fiery products at the show (combined between its booth and partner booths), demonstrating once again that Fiery is the industry's most popular digital print workflow.

EFI sold multiple VUTEk GS series printers at GRAPH EXPO, and made a number of significant announcements. The company launched the new Rastek T1000 and Rastek H652 printers and announced the availability of several Fiery servers driving new presses and MFPs from Canon, Konica Minolta, Ricoh and Xerox. EFI also touted two large print MIS wins at the show, with ANRO Inc. and The DATA Group of Companies, and revealed that DLA Document Services (part of the U.S. Department of Defense) selected EFI Digital StoreFront as the Web-to-Print platform for its more than 150 locations in the United States and abroad.

As part of the annual Must See 'ems award program sponsored by the Graphic Arts Show Company, EFI products earned five awards. The VUTEk GS3200 won a Must See 'em in the wide format printer category, along with Worth-a-Look awards for the Rastek H652 and Rastek T1000. On the software side, EFI Colorproof XF and EFI Monarch garnered Worth-a-Look recognition.

Labelexpo Americas

Labelexpo Americas 2010 proved to be the most successful label converting show to date for EFI, bringing a record number of visitors to the booth and record sales for EFI Radius and Jetrion. Of great interest was the debut of EFI Radius, whose management/ERP software products clearly show EFI's commitment to the packaging and converting markets. The new Jetrion 4830LED UV inkjet system was also spotlighted and drew lots of interest from show goers - the system allows direct printing on unsupported and heat sensitive materials, including shrink sleeve.

The Jetrion 4830 was the only UV inkjet printer selected to be in the inaugural, conference-hosted "Technology Workshop" booth, which showcased four leading label printing technologies with in-depth presentations and demos. This prominent placement led to increased traffic in the EFI booth from companies interested in learning more about how the 4830 can offer the lowest cost per label for short- and medium-run print jobs."

Several Jetrion 4830 printers were sold at the event. Central Decal, a large label manufacturer, purchased the 4830 that was running in the EFI booth. "Durable labels are a key strategy for Central Decal and critical to our growth into new markets, so it was a natural choice for us to team up with EFI Jetrion and its proven UL recognised systems," said Butch Kaplan, general manager.

Custom digital label printer Lofton Label decided to purchase EFI Radius software, with Michael Gaughan, executive vice president of manufacturing, commenting that "the Radius system will literally change our business."

Leading Suppliers Zone

As one of Europe's leading suppliers of the biggest brand-name range in the industry, the key objective is to demonstrate how Spandex adds value to signmaking and digital printing businesses by offering a total solutions package from a number of leading suppliers to the industry. Within this Zone, leading brands such as Avery, 3M, Orafol, Mactac and ImagePerfect™, Spandex’s own range of digital and signage materials, will have their own display with the latest additions to their portfolio. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try out some interactive, value-focussed sales tools.

Textile & Soft Signage Application Zone

The trend towards textile substrates for a range of sign and graphics applications is in evidence throughout this Zone. Themed around the growing opportunities within the textile and soft signage market, it will show visitors how to make the most of their existing equipment by offering new soft signage applications and complete, stylish solutions to their own customers.

On display will be Epson's new high-resolution, large format printer GS6000 (64") featuring an 8-colour solvent ink set, printing on ImagePerfect 2314 textile material.

Spandex will show different ways of mounting prints, providing visitors with ideas on how to deliver complete solutions and a broader scope of products for customers to increase profitability. For example, textile prints will be displayed with user-friendly mounting frame systems from Kunstdünger and Labate. The systems on display will include the robust and durable Monsterframe suitable for large building advertising and promotional displays; the Angelframe, a frameless structure that holds banners and materials; Pixfix invisible wall mounting system; Lumo, a flat light panel with high quality LEDs; the versatile mounting system Clamper as well as a mounting frame from Labate.

Low Investment – High Profit Application Zone

Specifically designed to equip customers with tools to help them identify new business applications to develop their range of services, this Zone will feature new and different profit-making applications that can reap substantial returns with minimum capital outlay.

Within this Zone, visitors to the Spandex stand will be able to experience Mimaki’s UJF3042 desktop-size UV LED inkjet printer. At the show, the printer will be personalising a number of short-run gadgets such as pens to demonstrate its versatility and efficiency.

Also on display in this Zone will be a Gerber Edge printer with Envision plotter. Spandex will be demonstrating a vast array of revenue-making non-inkjet applications printed with the Gerber Edge including silver, photo-luminescent, barcodes, whites on colour and many more. Its diversity allows users to print directly onto a range of speciality materials, making it ideal for indoor and outdoor marking and signage. A heat press in this Zone will be used to print on T-shirts and textiles with a wide variety of TransFlex and TransFlock materials.

Screen's Widescreen 2010 Premiere - 30th November to 2nd December

Screen has announced the Widescreen 2010 Premiere, an event that brings together the stars of the wide format world in its headquarters in Milton Keynes on 30 November to 2 December 2010. As well as the latest wide format printers from Screen, the Widescreen 2010 Premiere will star equipment from EskoArtwork and ancillaries from the world of specialist high-quality graphics such as lenticular and 3D.
The wide format industry's experts have gathered together to demonstrate the powerful capabilities of high-value applications. From design through to the finished product, visitors will be shown how to cost, manage and produce creative 2D and 3D products and displays using the latest Madico film and Dufaylite materials.
The focus is on profiting from productivity and innovative value-added special effects for original and powerful products are brought to life by these technologically advanced machines, systems and substrates.
The event is free and open, but places are limited and early registration is recommended. Visitors will see Screen's hybrid Truepress Jet2500UV versatile high-speed, high quality wide format digital inkjet printing system in action, with its new 5 and 7 layer printing. Alongside there is the Truepress Jet1600UV-F, Screen's exceptionally precise, wide format digital inkjet system which is particularly well suited to lenticular printing, and now features a roll printing option.
Available at the Widescreen 2010 Premiere will be the new Kongsberg XP24 cutting table from EskoArtwork, which can cut at an incredible 100m per minute. There is an innovative range of exciting materials on show at the Widescreen 2010 Premiere. ContraVision shows how to produce impressive one-way, see-through window advertisements, signs or decorative designs on transparent plastic films and rigid sheets. In a world first, these see-through graphics will be produced on the Truepress Jet2500UV as a roll machine, utilizing the new five-layer single pass printing, which is a real breakthrough for this type of production.
