HP to demonstrate creativity beyond image capture at Focus On Imaging

Z3200 Focus On Imaging

HP have announced that it will show its latest product portfolio, demonstrated in a live photo shoot environment for production of premium quality photo applications, at Focus On Imaging, March 7-10th, stand D60, Hall 9, at the NEC, Birmingham.

An HP Media Scientist will provide demonstrations of how to increase creativity in print, through better understanding of available HP media, and how photographers and photo labs can use HP media and inkjet technology together to produce exciting results, that add value to their work/business offering.

HP will hold on-stand seminars featuring industry-leading photographer, Donovan Wylie, and daily live on-stand shoots by Keith Thompson and Robin Preston. These industry experts will demonstrate how professional photographers, amateurs and retail publishers are using HP Designjet Z3200 and HP Designjet Z2100 Photo Printers, to exhibit work, sell prints or even print personal photographic imagery.

Also on the stand, visitors will find information about the recently launched, joint development between HP and Prooftag™, ARTtrust solution. This simple, self-certification system allows photographers and artists to provide individual identity to any Digital Fine Art Collection Pigment Print (Pigment Print), produced on HP Designjet Z series printers using HP Vivera pigment inks with any compatible media. ARTtrust is specifically designed to meet the need for artwork traceability and authenticity. With increased control and availability of information online, artists, photographers and end-customers can be assured of artwork provenance, protect investments and ensure future value.

Anne Sharp, category and marketing, Design, HP UK comments: "We are really looking forward to this year's show, and to explain how HP technology can be used to enhance photo products, and enable increased commercial success."

The HP Designjet Z3200, available in 24" and 44" models, delivers gallery-like quality, black-and-white and colour photographs, art enlargements, large-format designs and high-accuracy proofs. The expanded colour gamut, with 12 HP Vivera pigment inks and a new HP 73 Chromatic Red, enables 95 percent PANTONE® coverage, making it the ideal solution for professional and commercial photographers. Sample finishing techniques will also be exhibited and the demonstrators will be offering expert advice on all aspects of workflow in a business environment.

Featuring the first-ever embedded spectrophotometer with i1 Color Technology, the HP Designjet Z2100, available in 24" and 44" models, delivers higher colour accuracy and consistency. HP Vivera pigment inks produce vivid colour and black and white prints on matte or glossy papers, providing pre-press professionals, designers and photographers with an easy-to-use, versatile large-format printing solution.

"With increased market take-up of our products in the UK photographic market, we are excited about the prospect to further show the benefits of our Designjet professional photographic printers. With HP customers enjoying what they consider to be market leading print quality, product reliability and total cost of ownership from our products, we anticipate a busy show," concludes Anne Sharp.

Innovations in Garment Decoration at New FESPA Fabric Event

Fespa Fabric

FESPA 2010 (22 – 26 June, Messe Munich) heralds the launch of FESPA Fabric, a comprehensive ‘show within a show’ focussing exclusively on garment decoration.

Occupying a whole hall at the exhibition, FESPA Fabric has been conceived to give textile print professionals, garment producers, fashion technicians, retailers and apparel brand owners access to the latest sector news and developments, and a chance to see the innovative techniques, technologies and consumables that will help them differentiate and add value to their products while optimising productivity and profitability.

At around 8000m2, FESPA Fabric will be more than 30 per cent bigger than previous garment decoration zones within FESPA shows. The event features a world-class line-up of the leading innovators and solution providers in the garment decoration community, including event sponsors Falk & Ross, Gildan, Kornit Digital, as well as other leading industry names such as Heinz Walz, Polyone Wilflex, Quaglia, San Roque and Sawgrass.

FESPA Sales & Marketing Director Marcus Timson comments: “Garment decoration is heavily dominated by the screen printing process, which still offers unique flexibility, creativity and productivity for garment producers. In that respect FESPA, with its deep screen heritage, is the natural home for an event focused on garment decoration, and our show has always attracted a sizeable global audience from this market.

“Building on this track record, we were keen to add more value for these visitors, by giving this part of the FESPA show its own clear identity, and channelling more effort into making it a holistic event experience, with features and educational activities specifically tailored to the interests of this specialist audience.”

Visitors to FESPA Fabric will have the opportunity to see the latest advances in manual and automatic screen printing, digital direct-to-garment technology, drying and heat transfer technology, laser cutting and design software. They will also be able to network with screen printing machine manufacturers, ink innovators, garment producers, and embroidery and flocking specialists to inspire them to take their businesses forward.

Timson continues: “Like all service providers, today’s ultra competitive environment means that garment producers need to stay abreast of technical developments and look at opportunities to achieve greater production efficiencies or speed up time to market. More importantly, in the ultra fast-moving fashion sector, innovation equals differentiation. Garment producers, whether small craft-based businesses or larger volume producers, need to open their minds to new techniques, processes and value-adding applications that can help their customers to create garments that respond more quickly to changing trends, meet consumer demand and gain competitive advantage.”

Fabric Live! is a daily fashion show at FESPA Fabric, featuring show sponsors Falk & Ross and Gildan. A live commentary will provide expert insights into the textiles, inks and processes involved, and the audience will have a chance to network with industry insiders at the Fabric Bar within the Fabric Live! area.

Charlie’s Hub is the place for visitors to find world renowned garment printing expert Charlie Taublieb. He will provide practical demonstrations and valuable insight to help printers hone their techniques and get the most out of their equipment to produce high quality printed fabric products. Garment guru and owner of T-Shirt Biz International, Scott Fresener will be delivering garment decoration master classes every day from 10:00h to 14:00h. Both experts will be on hand to discuss key trends, processes and technologies and answer questions.

Event supporters IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) will also provide input to ensure that FESPA Fabric visitors can access the latest information about issues such as environmentally sustainable garment production and compliance.

Canon Europe, C.P. Bourg, Domino Printing Sciences, Fujifilm Europe, Océ, Pitney Bowes, Red Tie, Ricoh and Xerox will give journalists from over 100 global publications an exclusive preview on what they will showcase at Ipex 2010.

In addition to presentations from exhibitors, the Ipex organisers will also update the media on the current shape of the event as well as new visitor features and initiatives. There will also be a presentation from Pira International about The Great Print Debates at Ipex 2010 - a panel debate that will tackle some of the most critical issues facing the print industry today. Nick Devine, the Print Coach, will be talking about the new seminar sessions at the Printers’ Profit Zone at Ipex 2010.

Comments Trevor Crawford, Ipex 2010 Event Director: “We’re delighted with the level of interest in the Summit from exhibitors and the tremendous commitment from the international media. In holding the event we’re able to further support our exhibitors in targeting the media with their key messages and providing the press with an exciting preview of what Ipex 2010 has in store.“

Jan Hol, Océ’s Senior Vice-President, Marketing Communications, says: "In light of the envisaged transaction between Océ and Canon, we expect strong interest from the media. Key to this integration is Pitney Bowes' new IntelliJet Printing System - a new production colour printing system for high-volume transactional mailers that is already gaining headlines across Europe and North America.

"With the addition of the IntelliJet Printing System to the Pitney Bowes portfolio, the Pitney Bowes stand will be the only place that Ipex visitors can see solutions that play across the entire full integrity end-to-end output management, production colour digital printing and Mailstream production process.
