Avery Dennison is revamping its Avery® Digital Cast Films range to create a ‘second generation’ that meets the needs of today’s increasingly sophisticated digital print capabilities, as well as the robust and complex applications for which durable self-adhesive films are used today.
New digital overlaminates
Top of the list of changes is the introduction of new Avery DOL Overlaminates, Avery DOL 1460 Gloss and 1480 Matt, which have been formulated to deliver the high levels of conformability demanded by challenging three-dimensional applications.
New benefits for inkjet-printed graphics
The new Avery DOL Overlaminates make it possible for graphics converters to take advantage of using Avery MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS inkjet-printable film for rugged applications over corrugations. This product partnership brings several benefits. Avery MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS film combines an ultra-conformable long-life 53 micron conformable white gloss cast vinyl with built-in air egress characteristics, a permanent, transparent adhesive, and (for overposting applications) a separate grey primer layer for optimal opacity. The adhesive also features clean long-term removability, low tack, and repositionability. Combining an inkjet-printed graphic with one of the new Avery DOL Overlaminates provides not only protection of the printed substrate, but also the conformability required for applications over corrugations.
Avery MPI 1900 premium range extended
Avery Dennison has also extended the options in its inkjet-printable Avery 1900 cast films range to reflect the requirement for durable films – especially for 3D applications — that offer special functionalities. Avery MPI 1900 film – the long-established gloss white cast vinyl offering extra opacity – is now joined by Avery MPI 1900 Easy Apply film, with a low-tack, repositionable adhesive; and Avery MPI 1906 AP film, featuring a permanent adhesive designed for low-surface- energy, apolar surfaces such as HDPE, LDPE, and PP.
