The transformational role that signage has had in shaping the world we live in today has been the inspiration behind an innovative limited-edition calendar launched this month by Antalis.

Designed around the theme ‘Where would we be without it?’, each month creatively depicts iconic pieces through history from the Magna Carta in 1215 and the introduction of Braille in 1824 through to ground-breaking signage on the Voyager spacecraft and Christmas packaging.

The calendar, which is exclusive to Antalis customers, is also a showcase of the range of papers manufactured by Arjowiggins, with each page printed on a different creative paper from collections such as Curious Collection, Rives, Pop’Set, Keaykolour, Conqueror and Cyclus. A range of innovative print techniques are also demonstrated, including holographic foiling on a twenty-pound note and blind embossing of a braille message.

The calendar is 100% carbon-balanced through the World Land Trust, reflecting Antalis’ commitment to sustainability as a business.

Antalis has gained something of a reputation for producing award-winning calendars, having received recognition over several years at the National Calendar Awards. Ian Webb, marketing director, comments: “The 2017 calendar is a year-long celebration of the vital role that paper, packaging and signage have played throughout history, as well as their continued importance in an increasingly digital world. As well as a nod to the past, the piece is a reminder of the future opportunities that print offers as a dynamic sector that continues to evolve and innovate.”
