Nottingham-based ArtSystems – the exclusive Neschen distributor to the UK graphics and art world – has announced the launch of the latest materials innovation from the specialist manufacturer. Named solvoprint, the new material is a cost-effective, non-woven, high performance printable wallpaper with a special coating that improves print quality when compared to all its competitors while providing a traditional, paper-like look and feel.

ArtSystems’ Paul Tarry, Sales Division Manager, Consumables, said: “Customers are always looking for both high quality and cost-effectiveness, that’s a given, but when a product opens up new revenue streams and offers end-users a broader range of print solutions the possibilities become really exciting.

“Solvoprint has been designed to work right across the ink range and returns the highest possible colour brilliance for printers using eco-solvent, solvent, Latex and UV curable inks. What this means is that graphics professionals can offer brilliant bespoke wallcovering solutions to clients in offices, hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, exhibition stands, homes, airports, schools and railway stations, anywhere that has an interior flat surface can be transformed in what has become a very lucrative market.

“Thanks to solvoprint’s new coating, which works to maximise every ink’s colour gamut and increase its brightness, print professionals can open up a whole new spectrum in high quality wallcovering solutions. There is a noted trend towards bespoke wall coverings and, thanks to incredible ongoing improvements in print quality, there has also been a recognised need for a wallpaper that makes the most of the latest advances in print technology. Solvoprint sets new benchmarks in colour brilliance and dimensional stability, and matches the needs of today’s most demanding print professionals.”

A popular 1.6m wide, solvoprint will provide maximum print outcomes for most wide format systems including the HP Latex 360 printer using Latex 310/330/370 inks, for which it is RIP independent, the Mimaki JV33 using SS 21 inks and Mimaki’s RasterLink Pro 6.0, and the Roland VS-540 using Eco Sol Max Inks and VersaWorks 5.x.

Paul continues: “Added to its excellent colour saturation and colour gamut, plus brilliant print results, solvoprint is non-PVC, and thus a more environmentally friendly material. It is very strong both wet and dry, and with its robust 190 gsm specification it is very easy to apply and scratch resistant. It is certified with a Fire Rating of EN 13 501 and is certified for use with HP’s third generation of Latex inks.

Dimensionally stable with almost zero shrinkage, Solvoprint is also breathable which makes it ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. The new material feels more like paper than its competitors, meaning end users will benefit from a more traditional, higher quality look and feel than many of the more “plastic” looking alternatives. Further textures will be announced at a later date.

ArtSystems is offering a promotional 10% discount on Neschen solvoprint performance wallpaper throughout November.
