William Smith adds Avery Dennison SPF-X2, a self-healing, high-gloss paint protection film for durable vehicle and wrap protection.

William Smith has added Avery Dennison’s latest paint protection film, SPF-X2, to its portfolio, giving vehicle wrappers and installers a new option for protecting paintwork without compromising finish.

Paint protection film has become a natural extension of wrapping work, as customers look for ways to keep vehicles looking newer for longer. SPF-X2 is designed for exactly that job, shielding paint from stone chips, road debris, insect stains and everyday wear, while maintaining a deep gloss appearance.

What sets SPF-X2 apart is its balance of protection and practicality. The 165-micron thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film offers impact resistance and anti-yellowing performance, while remaining conformable enough for modern vehicle shapes. For installers, it is built to work within familiar processes, using standard wet application methods and manual or digital cutting.

The film’s self-healing topcoat helps minor scratches disappear when heat is applied, whether from the sun or a heat gun, making it well suited to vehicles that see daily use. Its hydrophobic surface also means dirt and water clear more easily, helping vehicles stay cleaner between washes.

SPF-X2 delivers a high-gloss, optically clear finish and can be applied directly to painted surfaces or over existing Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Films, allowing wrappers to offer added protection without changing the look of the original design.

“With more customers asking how they can protect a wrap or original paintwork for longer, paint protection film has become an increasingly important part of the conversation,” said Lindsay Hutchinson, Head of Marketing at William Smith Group 1832. “SPF-X2 gives installers a premium option that is straightforward to work with and delivers the clarity and durability their customers expect.”

With durability of up to seven years on vertical surfaces, the film is aimed at customers who want long-term protection for high-impact areas such as bumpers, bonnets, mirrors and wheel arches. Beyond automotive use, it can also be applied to painted metal surfaces in high-traffic environments, from transport interiors to commercial spaces.

SPF-X2 is now available to order from William Smith, with A6 samples also available via the website, allowing installers to test the finish and handling before committing to full rolls.

For vehicle wrappers looking to expand their offering, SPF-X2 provides a straightforward way to add paint protection to their services, combining durability, clarity and ease of use in one film.
