William Smith is bringing the first coloured paint protection film from Avery Dennison to the UK market, giving vehicle wrappers a new way to offer both protection and colour change in a single product.
Coloured PPF has emerged over the past 12 to 18 months as a growing trend in vehicle customisation. Now, Avery Dennison has launched its own range, designed to set a new standard for personalising and refreshing a car’s appearance.
The new Avery Dennison Colour Paint Protection Film launches with four shades: AD PPF Gloss Orange, AD PPF Gloss Light Blue, AD PPF Gloss Carmine Red, and AD PPF Gloss Rock Grey.
Colour and paint protection in one film
Until recently, wrappers often had to choose between colour change vinyl and traditional PPF. This new film aims to combine both.
Like standard PPF, it helps protect paintwork from stone chips, road grime, bird droppings, water stains, and everyday wear and tear. It also features a self-healing top coat. When exposed to heat, small to medium surface scratches can disappear.
At the same time, the high-gloss finish delivers a smooth, paint-like look designed for full vehicle transformations.
Lindsay Hutchinson, head of marketing at William Smith 1832, says the product reflects a shift in customer expectations, “Drivers are no longer just asking for protection or just asking for colour. They want both. Coloured PPF allows wrappers to offer a premium finish that looks like a full respray but also protects the vehicle underneath. For installers, this opens up new conversations with customers. It is not about replacing vinyl wraps or traditional PPF. It is about having another option in your toolkit.”
Engineered for easier, more reliable fitting
The film has been engineered for wet application, with a construction designed to support easier handling and positioning. Its premium conformability and adhesion performance allow it to adapt to complex vehicle lines and edges, making full car coverage possible.
With 2D+ conformability, the film is flexible enough to tackle challenging curves while maintaining a consistent gloss finish. A hydrophobic surface helps simplify cleaning and maintenance once installed.
Avery Dennison states the film offers up to five years’ durability, helping preserve colour, gloss, and structural integrity over time.
Rolls are available in 1.52m x 20m, providing sufficient material for wrapping larger vehicles.
Lindsay concludes, “When you are putting your name to a job, you need confidence in how it will perform. This product is designed to deliver long-term protection as well as impact. That combination will appeal to wrappers who want to move further into the premium end of the market.”
