Pureprint’s Uckfield site adds two HP Indigo 7K and one 18K press, with its two 100K machines to be upgraded to 120K in 2026.

Pureprint Group has unveiled a major new wave of investment to expand its digital print and on-demand production capacity, responding to continued growth across its publishing, brand, and e-commerce client base.

The latest investment includes significant upgrades to the Group’s Uckfield Digital Plant, alongside the relocation of digital print and binding equipment to its Ashford Colour site in Gosport, expanding capacity across both operations.

As part of the project, Ashford Colour has also been linked to Pureprint Group’s connected technology platform, meaning both sites can now be utilised for on-demand production and intelligent routing of jobs – bolstering the range of on-demand products in quantities as low as one.

Uckfield site welcomes new HP Indigo presses

At the heart of this investment is a substantial expansion of the Group’s HP Indigo fleet, underlining Pureprint’s long-standing partnership with HP. The Uckfield site has welcomed two new HP Indigo 7K presses and one HP Indigo 18K press, while the existing two HP Indigo 100K machines are set to be upgraded to 120K models in early 2026.

In addition, two HP Indigo 7900 presses and a Horizon BQ-470 PUR binding line have been relocated to the Ashford Colour site, further expanding production capacity for shorter-run, high-quality digital work.

This brings Pureprint’s total HP Indigo fleet to seven devices, marking a major uplift in output, flexibility, and productivity – supported by HP’s latest AI-driven automation and quality optimisation tools.

Complementing the Indigo expansion is a suite of new finishing technology designed to enhance the Group’s on-demand and personalised product capabilities. New installations include:

  • Horizon BQ-500 PUR binder with in-line HT1000 variable trimmer
  • Autobond 76 Mini Laminator
  • Zeno 360 IND Case Making and Casing-In Systems
  • Duplo 648 with inline folder

Together, these additions significantly enhance Pureprint’s efficiency and range of finishing options, enabling faster turnaround and greater creative flexibility for clients.

Mark Handford, CEO of Pureprint Group, commented: “We’re pleased to announce further investment in the latest digital print and finishing equipment across our Uckfield and Gosport sites. This builds upon our long-standing partnership with HP, which now spans a significant number of Indigo and Inkjet devices across the Group.

These investments support growing volumes from our roster of on-demand publishers, brands, and web to print partners. We’re particularly interested to see how AI and HP’s new productivity tools will help shape the future of our operations. The new devices have bedded in well and are fully operational ahead of the peak season for on-demand, digital, and personalised products.

We’re equally excited to expand our on-demand finishing capabilities. The new binding and casing lines give us more firepower than ever to deliver exceptional quality and speed across a wider range of products.”

This round of investment follows similar commitments earlier in the year, including new Durst printers and PlastGrommet banner lines at Pureprint Imprint’s Newcastle plant, and a major 2024 investment in Uckfield which saw the installation of a new Heidelberg litho press and a range of new finishing equipment.

Together, these investments underscore Pureprint’s continued commitment to innovation, capacity, and sustainable growth across its UK operations.
