eurolaser at the this year's Fakuma in Friedrichshafen

High-end laser cutting of plastics at the Fakuma 2017

Fast, precise and flexible – these are the demands that are made on modern production plants. The north German company eurolaser GmbH has been setting itself these challenges for more than 20 years and ranks among the specialists for CO2 laser systems for the cutting and engraving of non-metals. The large-format cutting systems with a processing area of up to 10 square metres increase the efficiency of the production processings by using the precise technological advantages of the laser and combine different automation solutions. A particularly significant sales argument is the modular expandable system technology. This enables users to adapt their laser systems to the processing conditions and to automate production process.

Impressive flexible: cutting systems from eurolaser

eurolaser systems offer the opportunity to use an unique variety of mechanical tools in parallel to the laser, and thereby increase flexibility in processing. The complete high quality range of tools produced by Zünd Systemtechnik AG of Switzerland are at customer´s disposal. In addition to milling tools, countless knives and scoring, marking and stamping tools are available. At the this year’s Fakuma, eurolaser shows the advantages of an ideal combination of different processing methods on just one machine – one of the biggest machine available at the market.

Advantages of lasers for acrylic sheets and plastic films

Acrylic processing seems tailor-made for innovative laser technology and it offers many advantages compared to traditional procedures. For example, conventional processing procedures, such as sawing or routing, create waste in terms of acrylic shavings, entail additional expense with polishing or flame polishing, and there are definite limitations when filigree inner contours should be cut. By contrast, contact free laser processing ‘melts’ the acrylic. Consequently, there are clear and smooth contours without the need of further post-processing. The area affected by the heat is so small that the structure of the material is retained.

A similarly large market is the cutting of plastic films. Especially in the automotive industry, machinery construction and front panels for kitchen appliances, the production of front panels and membrane switches will be optimised by means of high-quality laser cutting systems. Besides, the contactless processing through extremely narrow laser beam enables also precise and small radius.

New opportunities for automation: Labelling, printing and marking

For the first time, the system complements Label and Ink Printer Module allow the user to apply labels directly to the laser-cut parts and to print them individually as required. Besides, the direct print onto the material used is also possible. In this way, the cut single parts will be marked for further process stages, e.g. with a bar code or a serial number, and thus, optimised for traceability.

If you need only simple markings, you can also make use of the reasonable Ink Marker Module. It operates more quickly than the usual pencils and, you can also cut contactless materials, such as e.g. polyester, polypropylene, acrylic and almost all natural fabrics.

Further information regarding process optimisation and process flexibility through innovative laser cutting systems could be found at the Fakuma in Friedrichshafen. eurolaser will be present on booth 5319 in hall B5.

Graphtec GB to demonstrate latest cutting solutions at SignLink LIVE

Graphtec CE6000 LFR

On Stand J03, Graphtec GB will demonstrate selected products from its wide range of cutting solutions. These comprise examples from the flagship FC8600 and the CE6000 series of roll-fed cutters, the latest FCX2000 series of flatbed machines and the newly renamed F-MARK combined automatic digital die-cutting and sheet-feeding system.

The upgraded FC8600 series of cutters incorporates the latest version 6 of Graphtec’s proprietary ARMS (Automatic Registration Mark Sensing) system and the ISM (Intelligent Scan Mode) function and is supplied with the latest Graphtec Pro Studio software. This is based on the popular FlexiSIGN family of design and production software from SAi for which Graphtec GB is a preferred business partner and distributor in the UK and Ireland. The FC8600 has a maximum cutting speed of 1,485mm/sec to claim ‘fastest in class’ status and a cutting force of 600gf.

The renamed CE6000 PLUS series of cutters is now available with new and enhanced features to enable radically increased levels of productivity. The cutters have a maximum cutting speed of 1,000mm/sec (exclusive to the CE6000 PLUS 120 model) and a cutting force of 300gf (up to 450gf on the CE6000-40 machine). Key features of this economically priced cutter include the Graphtec ARMS facility, tangential emulation and a perforation cutting function. The CE6000 PLUS series is also supplied with Graphtec Pro Studio software.

At SignLink LIVE, Graphtec GB will be donating a CE6000-60ES cutter as a prize in the Golden Ticket Draw at the show.

Noteworthy design features of the latest FCX2000 series of flatbed cutters to be demonstrated include a specially configured cutting head incorporating two tool holders, the first of which holds a knife and the second a creasing tool to enable a dual cutting and creasing function. A USB port enables offline operation and files to be saved and retrieved remotely as well as a barcode function that enables printed barcode and the relevant cutting data to be recalled from memory and cut. The cutters also incorporate the latest version 6 of Graphtec’s ARMS facility.

The renamed F-MARK combined automatic sheet feeder and digital die cutter is based on the popular Graphtec CE6000-40 cutter. The machine is available in a choice of three sizes (920 x 610, 920 x 1,200 and 920 x 1,800mm). There is also the option of either a vacuum suction or electrostatic material hold-down facility, with the former better suited to the processing of heavier and thicker materials and the latter more suitable for lighter-weight media.

The F-Mark cutter can be used for a wide range of print and cut applications, including primarily short-run label production, digital prints and packaging, thus enabling sign and graphics manufacturers and print finishing specialists to diversify into new markets. The extremely compact footprint also enables the machine to be mounted to a work surface as small as 60 x 67cm.
