IDEAlliance has announced that Mutoh’s ValueJet 1638X and ValueJet 1624 large-format printing devices are the first to be awarded its new Wide/Grand Format inkjet System Certification, validating their conformance to the highest standards of quality in print production.

The IDEAlliance Wide/Grand Format Inkjet System Certification Program evaluates manufacturers’ roll-fed and flatbed large format printing systems for printing, production, and application qualities for a specific ink and media combination. Systems are certified to meet or exceed global standards for colour reproduction, including colour accuracy (ISO 15339), GRACol 2013 (CGATS CRPC6), greyscale reproduction (ANSI/CGATS-TR015), colour gamut, print uniformity, repeatability (ISO 12647), registration, and light fastness (ASTM D3424).

“This is a significant achievement for Mutoh, particularly in the prepress and commercial print markets,” says Christopher Brown, engineering manager for Mutoh America’s Advanced Engineering Group (AEG). “The 64-inch VJ1624 and 1638X are high-speed large format solvent printers, and what this certification says is that they can also double as proofers.” Brown adds, “For a commercial print shop looking to add large format outdoor sign printing to its repertoire, the 1624 and1638X are now an obvious choice to serve both printing and prepress proofing needs – very few manufacturers can say that.”

Steve Bonoff, IDEAlliance Executive Vice President, adds: “Results of this program informs prospective and current users of large format technologies on which system best meets their production and market needs, as well as how to achieve consistent quality from their printing systems. Mutoh has demonstrated its leadership role in our industry by being the first to submit to the strict conformance specifications in the Wide/Grand Format Inkjet Certification Program.”
