Peerless Plastics accelerates UV print growth and automotive border production with a Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 from Soyang.

Peerless Plastics & Coatings, a company that specialises in the manufacture and application of protective hard coatings to plastic substrates, has revealed that its investment in a Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 flatbed UV printer from Soyang Hardware has significantly improved production and allowed it to take on additional work from new and existing customers.

Based in the town of Thetford between Cambridge and Norwich, Peerless delivers specialist coatings that extend the lifespan of plastic products by offering resistance to chemicals and abrasion. It also offers a range of support services such as injection moulding, digital printing, spray painting and CNC routing.

With digital printing having been one of the company’s most in-demand services in recent years, it took delivery of a Fujifilm Acuity Prime L from Soyang Hardware in the summer of 2024. Such was the success of this investment that demand among customers increased further, leaving Peerless in need of another machine to support this part of the business.

Acuity Prime 30 unlocks new UV applications

“When we did our initial product research on inks before we purchased the Prime L, we decided that the Fujifilm with the HF UV ink performed the best,” said Liam Cameron, Senior Head of Print at Peerless. “When we decided we needed another printer, we wanted to add the exact same inks, so it can run side by side with our current Prime L. With this, we identified the Prime 30 as the best option for us with the exact same inks.”

Running at a top speed of 150sq m/hr, the Fujifilm Acuity Prime 30 offers a bed size of 2,500mm x 1,270mm, opening up a wide range of production options to users across key applications such as board, safety signage, personalisation, packaging and corporate gifting. Other core features on the machine include the ability to print at a resolution of up to 1200dpi and the option to print with colour, white, clear and primer, further increasing versatility and flexibility for the user.

Following the success of its previous investment from Soyang Hardware, Peerless had no hesitation in returning to the wide and superwide format print machinery specialist for its latest purchase. It took delivery of the new machine in September 2025 and has since been reaping the benefits of running a second Fujifilm device.

Soyang supports Acuity Prime 30 expansion

“We decided on the smaller machine because it is the perfect size for printing obscuration borders for automotive screens and other smaller niche jobs we produce,” Liam said. “It has allowed us to free up capacity so that we can put more work into the department and win tighter projects and reduce our lead times for customers.

“With the ink performing very similar to a screen print ink, the new machine allows us to go and win more obscuration border work.”

Liam also paid tribute to Soyang and the service it provided to Peerless throughout the process of adding the new Fujifilm machine, from initially viewing the device through to its installation and ongoing aftercare.

“Again, working with Soyang and Nigel Briggs [Business Development Manager at Soyang Hardware] was a brilliant experience,” Liam said. “We got to have a demo on the Prime 30 before purchasing and Nigel was brilliant in providing samples and anything else we needed.”
