Kornit Digital, a global leader in sustainable, on-demand digital fashion and textile production technologies, today shared the story of IVO Textiles, a family-owned textile manufacturer specialising in premium printed fabrics that recently invested in the Kornit Presto MAX S roll-to-roll digital textile printing system.
The investment enables IVO Textiles to reproduce the quality of traditional screen printing while significantly increasing production speed, expanding the range of fabrics it can print and delivering a broader colour gamut for its premium interior textile customers.
Six decades of textile craftsmanship and quality
Founded in the early 1960s, IVO Textiles established its reputation during London’s vibrant fashion era, producing fabrics for iconic designers including Celia Birtwell, Ossie Clark and Zandra Rhodes, as well as the legendary fashion retailer Biba. As manufacturing trends evolved, the family-owned company successfully transitioned from fashion textiles into premium furnishing fabrics, wallpapers and interior décor, while maintaining its commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and quality.
Kornit matches traditional print quality
When the time came to replace its previous digital textile printer, IVO Textiles conducted an extensive evaluation of the market’s leading digital printing technologies. Identical fabrics and production files were tested across multiple platforms to determine which system could most closely reproduce the appearance and quality of traditional screen printing.
Kornit Presto MAX S consistently delivered the closest match while outperforming competing systems in colour accuracy, durability and fastness testing. Demonstrations at Kornit’s Customer Experience Center in Düsseldorf further confirmed the platform’s production capabilities and reliability, making it the clear choice for the company’s next stage of growth.
Michael Haas, CEO, IVO Textiles said: “IVO Textiles has always built its reputation on craftsmanship, quality and innovation. When we evaluated the market, we weren’t simply looking for another digital printer. We were looking for a platform capable of matching the quality of traditional screen printing while giving us the flexibility to meet today’s customer expectations. Kornit delivered exactly that and gives us the confidence to continue growing our business.”
Delivering immediate business benefits
The Kornit Presto MAX S is already delivering measurable improvements in productivity and production efficiency.
The company cites the platform’s expanded colour gamut, broader fabric compatibility and intelligent self-centering technology as key advantages. In addition, the availability of white ink and XDi capabilities opens new creative opportunities for premium interior textile applications as customer demand evolves.
The most immediate impact, however, has been production speed. A typical 200-metre order that previously required approximately a day and a half to print, followed by baking in a separate finishing department, can now be completed in under two hours, including printing and curing. The dramatic reduction in production time increases manufacturing capacity while enabling much faster response to customer demand.
“The colour gamut and the range of fabrics we can now print on are tremendous advantages for our business. But the biggest benefit is the speed. We’re now able to respond to our customers much faster while maintaining the quality they’ve always expected from IVO Textiles,” added Michael Haas.
Building for the next generation
IVO Textiles also highlighted Kornit’s customer support as an important factor in the partnership, citing the responsiveness of Kornit’s engineering and service teams throughout installation and commissioning.
“IVO Textiles demonstrates that heritage manufacturers don’t have to choose between craftsmanship and digital innovation,” said Guy Yaniv, President, Kornit Digital Europe. “By combining traditional screen-printing expertise with Kornit’s digital technology, IVO Textiles has preserved the quality that built its reputation while achieving the speed, flexibility and efficiency required to compete in today’s premium textile market.”
With the Kornit Presto MAX S now in production, IVO Textiles is well positioned to build on its reputation for quality while expanding into new applications and supporting the evolving needs of customers across the premium interior textiles market.
