CMYUK has launched a streamlined Sign & Graphics materials portfolio focused on versatility, performance, choice and simpler stockholding.

CMYUK has launched its new Sign & Graphics Materials portfolio, bringing together a practical, commercially focused range of substrates for everyday display graphics, signage, décor and specialist print applications.

The new collection has been developed with a clear objective: to give customers a focused, reliable range of materials that covers their everyday application requirements, while removing unnecessary complexity from the product portfolio.

Across the range, CMYUK offers both established conventional products and carefully selected alternatives with documented environmental and sustainability credentials. This gives customers the flexibility to choose the most appropriate material for each project, whether prioritising recognised environmental attributes where application and budget permit, or selecting a proven conventional product where performance, specification and cost are the key considerations.

CMYUK has taken a considered approach to creating a focused and highly versatile collection, prioritising many materials that perform across multiple applications. This reduces reliance on highly specialised, single-purpose products, enabling customers to consolidate their inventory without compromising the flexibility to meet a diverse range of application requirements.

The portfolio covers self-adhesive films, speciality materials, and banner products, with key brands including DECAL, BIOND, UTACK, UPROTECT, UFABFLX, and Kavalan.

Michael Crook, Commercial Director at CMYUK, said: “Print providers don’t need an overwhelming choice of materials with seemingly similar capabilities. What they need is a carefully focussed range with clear and accessible technical information, and knowledgeable support to help them identify the right material for each application.”

“We have streamlined the portfolio around real-world applications and the practical decisions our customers make every day: selecting materials that print reliably, deliver the required performance, meet budget expectations and, where required, provide the appropriate supporting environmental documentation.

“The collection includes proven, established materials alongside carefully selected alternatives, supported by accurate, transparent and regulatory-compliant certification. It’s about giving customers a clear choice, backed by reliable information, so they can select the most appropriate material for the specific requirements of each project.”

New! DECAL films simplify choice and stockholding

At the heart of the self-adhesive offer is DECAL, a focused range of monomeric and polymeric printable films together with high-performance laminates.

The range has been developed for applications including events and exhibitions, retail, automotive and fleet graphics, commercial and residential interiors and out-of-home advertising. Options include permanent, repositionable and removable adhesives, high-tack products, bubble-free systems, textured vinyls, and dot matrix adhesive technology.

The concept behind DECAL is centred on material versatility, with individual products engineered to perform across multiple applications. This multi-purpose approach helps customers simplify product selection, ordering and stockholding management, while reducing reliance on application-specific materials. Depending on the product, materials are compatible with solvent, eco-solvent, Latex, UV and UVgel print technologies.

New! BIOND, films and laminates with certified bio-based content

Alongside its established range of conventional self-adhesive films, CMYUK is introducing BIOND, a new range of films and laminates with a certified bio-based material composition.

Manufactured in Portugal, selected BIOND products carry TÜV Austria OK biobased certification, confirming that approximately 80% to 96% of the carbon content within their composition comes from bio-based sources, depending on the product. The bio-based content is derived from sugarcane and replaces a proportion of the fossil-derived raw material used in conventional self-adhesive films. BIOND is designed to print seamlessly on existing compatible production equipment.

Depending on the product, BIOND is compatible with UV, UVgel, Latex, and eco-solvent technologies and can be used for applications including retail displays, exhibitions, vehicle graphics, architectural signage, and outdoor advertising.

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by Portuguese polymer engineering specialist PIEP found that the best-performing BIOND product assessed had a greenhouse gas footprint up to 88% less than the polymeric PVC traditional product used in the study.  Results vary depending on the product and material used for comparison.

Helen Beresford-Jay, Group Product Marketing Manager at CMYUK, said, “BIOND introduces a genuinely innovative material construction to historic self-adhesive graphics materials, but the important point is the evidence supporting it.

“The TÜV Austria certification confirms the bio-based carbon content of specified products, while the PIEP study provides comparative carbon-footprint data within a defined assessment.

“This allows customers and brands to assess BIOND using product-specific information rather than relying on broad environmental language. It is an important addition for projects where material composition and measured carbon data form part of the specification.”

UTACK, specialty films for a wide range of surfaces

CMYUK’s UTACK range completes the specialist self-adhesive range within the portfolio. UTACK includes materials for walls, windows, floors, furniture and other surfaces, with features including powerful adhesion, removability, repositionability, high opacity, high clarity, and specialist finishes. The range also includes selected alternatives with clearly documented and verified environmental characteristics, enabling customers to balance visual and technical performance with the environmental requirements of each project.

UPROTECT matching laminates are engineered to work readily with UTACK films, enhancing their appearance and performance. From matt, gloss and textured finishes to dry-wipe and anti-graffiti protection, they enhance the material’s surface characteristics, broadening its functionality, application potential and, where required, overall durability.

UFABFLX PVC banner materials

CMYUK’s banner materials follow the same considered approach, combining proven conventional products with carefully selected alternatives backed by clear, product-specific environmental and sustainability documentation including advise on end-of life management.

UFABFLX is CMYUK’s PVC banner range, available in widths from 1100mm to 5000mm.  It includes frontlit, backlit, mesh, and blockout materials, suitable for a wide range of demanding indoor and outdoor applications, the products are manufactured to deliver the highest levels of structural integrity, tensile strength, tear resistance and dimensional stability, supporting reliable performance throughout printing, finishing, installation and end use.

Applications range from retail displays, exhibitions and events to large-format building façades and building wraps, backdrops, barriers, fence jackets, hanging graphics and sports installations

Kavalan, PVC-free banner material supported by comparative lifecycle data

Sitting alongside UFABFLX is Kavalan, CMYUK’s PVC-free banner and display range, which is available throughout the UK and Ireland.

Kavalan provides a PVC-free solution across multiple applications including blockout, backlit, frontlit, double-sided and opaque graphics. Specified products have been assessed through comparative Life Cycle Assessments against defined PVC banner reference materials. The range is aimed particularly at markets such as events, retail, and exhibitions where customers and end users are increasingly considering the environmental impact of temporary display materials.

The overall Sign & Graphics portfolio has been structured to simplify material selection, recognising that no single solution is right for every application. Instead, CMYUK offers a focused and versatile range designed to meet the majority of day-to-day requirements, combining proven, established specifications with carefully considered alternatives supported by clear, product-specific environmental and sustainability documentation.

The new Sign & Graphics collection complements CMYUK’s recently updated digital textiles portfolio, which includes materials from UFABRIK and PONGS®.

CMYUK simplifies materials into two clear ranges

CMYUK has refreshed and reorganised its materials offerings into two clear areas: Textiles and Sign & Graphics. Across both, customers can choose from trusted, established products and carefully selected alternatives with product-specific environmental and sustainable evidence, covering everything from everyday signage and graphics through to super-wide textile displays up to 5m wide.

The aim is to provide a clear, coherent materials offer built around performance, versatility, cost, and reliable supply, while giving print businesses practical options to assess materials against their own environmental and sustainable objectives.

The result is a clear, providing a coherent materials range built around performance, versatility, value and reliable supply, while providing print businesses with the information and choice they need to evaluate products against their own environmental and sustainability objectives.
