Eastern Exhibition & Display installs second HP Latex 800

The purchase marked Eastern Exhibition & Display’s second HP Latex 800, buying both machines from approved HP distributor Perfect Colours.

Graphic display and exhibition build solutions provider Eastern Exhibition & Display has purchased its second HP Latex 800 large-format printer in a matter of months to further enhance the quality of its work and improve overall efficiency.

The Scottish company began life 43 years ago as a photo lab, but over the years has evolved to become a specialist in high quality large-format digital print and bespoke joinery for exhibitions and events.

Working with leading brands such as BMW, British Airways, Qatar Airways and SEE, the quality of printed output and attention to detail are of paramount importance to Eastern Exhibition & Display, which led it to purchasing its first HP Latex 800 in August 2021 from approved HP reseller Perfect Colours.

The installation proved such a success that after a visit to the Perfect Colours Roadshow, it opted to place an order for a second HP Latex 800 printer, as well as a new Summa cutter, taking delivery of the HP machine in late November 2021.

Shevy Kapoor, Finance and Operations Director at Eastern Exhibition & Display, said both HP purchases formed part of a wider plan hatched during the first Covid-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020, when the company reviewed its business operations in order to improve efficiency moving forward.

“We reviewed the market for a machine that would give us the same or better quality as our existing Durst Lamda, and a constant name that came up was HP Latex 800,” Shevy Kapoor said. “The success of the machine was impressive; we spoke to similar companies who invested in the machine, and what they said was also very positive.

“The eco credentials of the machine are also very important to us as a company and to our creative clients. We hope to offer clients more types of print that aligns with their sustainability needs, as well as enter the bespoke wallpaper market over time.”

Eastern Exhibition and Display has also signed up for HP’s industry-leading Planet Partners Program, further boosting its sustainability edge.

Shevy Kapoor said the decision to replace the existing Durst machine with the new HP Latex 800 also helped free up floor space at its facility in Musselburgh in East Lothian, as well as create a quieter and more pleasant working environment for staff.

“The machine is as you’d expect; it’s fast and the quality of print is exceptional,” Shevy Kapoor said. “We can now operate with less supervision and our less experienced team members have learned very quickly how to operate the machine.

“It is also very evident that there is less waste and ink usage – and that is great for sustainability and costs.”
