At FESPA Barcelona (May 19 to 22), Caldera will showcase PrimeCenter 5, the latest version of its prepress job preparation and workflow software for wide-format and industrial print workflows. Headlining the release is File Editor, a new built-in workspace designed to help print service providers inspect, modify, and validate files faster before creating layouts for production.
For many print businesses, file preparation remains one of the biggest sources of delays, rework, and manual intervention. With File Editor, Caldera brings key prepress actions into a single environment, reducing the need to switch between tools and helping operators move jobs through production ensuring greater consistency.
File checks, edits, and validation in one place
Integrated directly inside PrimeCenter, File Editor allows users to review critical file components which include dimensions and cutting paths and apply immediate corrections and confirm results in real time. Files can then be passed directly to PrimeCenter’s Layout Creator, where jobs are automatically nested into optimised layouts for printing and cutting. Files can also be exported from File Editor directly to PDF.
Handles manual jobs and workflow exceptions
Caldera positions File Editor as a practical bridge between hands-on prepress and fully automated workflows. In manual environments, it helps to have a clear focus on each jobs’ requirements to avoid back-and-forth between the layout stage and the file preparation stage. In automated setups, it provides a controlled way to handle exceptions, helping teams to quickly fix and re-validate files that would otherwise be rejected.
PrimeCenter 5 continues to support integration with major RIP software, printers, and cutting systems, making it suitable for a broad range of applications, from sticker production and retail graphics to high-volume batch workflows.
“PrimeCenter 5 is built around what print teams tell us they need every day: a quicker, easier way to get files production-ready while keeping full control. With File Editor, they can check, fix, and validate files in one place, then move straight into layout creation. That means less jumping between tools, less rework, and more time spent getting jobs out the door whether the workflow is manual or automated.” says Sebastien Hanssens, Vice President Marketing at Caldera.
Faster checks, less waste, higher throughput
With PrimeCenter 5 and File Editor, print providers can improve file accuracy with faster visual checks and validation, reduce turnaround time through in-workflow edits, optimise media usage with automated layout generation, and increase throughput with more predictable, repeatable prepress.
